Dentistry From The Heart Event 2018

Spreading Free Smiles Across the Gallatin Valley

Big Sky Dental Center and Dr. McClung have hosted their 4th annual Dentistry From The Heart, providing people with free dental care to patients over the age of 18 who cannot get dental care elsewhere, on Saturday, February 17, 2018.

“It all comes down to wanting to provide something greater to my community,” said Dr. McClung. “The services provided by Dentistry From The Heart helps more than just a patients teeth; it gives them a renewed reason to smile.”

In 2001, Dentistry From The Heart started with New Port Richey dentist Dr. Vincent Monticciolo as a way to giving back to the community and provide aid to the growing number of Americans without dental insurance. Since its inception, Dentistry From The Heart has grown to include more than 200 annual events nationwide and provided more than 45,000 people with free dental care services

The sponsors that help make this community event possible include Dr. Fred Schwendemen, The Christian Center, Little Stinkers, U-Swirl, The Pickle Barrel, Starbucks, and Ace Owenhouse.

Mission Trip to San Mateo, Belize 2017

The mission trip to San Mateo, Belize was an unbelievable experience for the Big Sky Dental Center team, and a trip that we will always remember.

We arrived on Wednesday May 3rd, 2017 and worked at the dental clinic for four days, helping 115 kids ranging from four to 14 years old. The kids attend school during the day, which is connected to the dental clinic, so we had the opportunity to see how the kids spend their time at school and learn more about the culture. This experience was eye opening because of the deprived conditions that the kids live in, but they were all so happy and grateful with what they had. Seeing children in that situation made each and every one of us much more appreciative of what we have here in the United States.

The school was closed on Saturday and Sunday so the Big Sky Dental Center team got to do some exploring. We snorkeled on Saturday and on Sunday we were all invited to a BBQ with the doctor that built the dental clinic that we worked in. Overall the trip was nothing short of awesome and we are all so excited to go back next year.

Lastly, we just wanted to say thank you to all of our patients that donated items to the kids. They were all very excited about the goodies. Thank you for having such big hearts and helping out those less fortunate. We have such an awesome community and are proud to have patients like all of you.
